are all steelmaking equipment, what is the difference between electric arc furnace and intermediate frequency furnace?
Author:
Electric arc furnace and intermediate frequency furnace are two classifications of electric furnace in steelmaking equipment, but they still have differences, classification, advantages three aspects to analyze the difference between electric arc furnace and intermediate frequency furnace.
An electric arc furnace is an electric furnace that uses the high temperature produced by electric arc to smelt ores and metals. The energy is concentrated when the gas discharge forms an arc, and the temperature of the arc region is above 3000 °C. For smelting metal, the electric arc furnace has greater flexibility than other steelmaking furnaces, can remove impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus, the furnace temperature is easy to control, the equipment occupies a small area, and is suitable for the melting of high-quality alloy steel.
The intermediate frequency furnace is a power supply device that converts the power frequency 50HZ alternating current into the intermediate frequency (above 300HZ to 1000HZ), turns the three-phase power frequency alternating current, rectifies it into direct current, and then turns the direct current into adjustable intermediate frequency current, supplies the intermediate frequency alternating current flowing by the capacitor and the induction coil, generates high-density magnetic field lines in the induction coil, and cuts the metal materials contained in the induction coil, generating large eddy currents in the metal materials.
Classify:
Electric arc furnaces can be classified in a variety of ways.
According to the melting form of electricity, it is divided into
(1) Non-self-consumption electric arc furnace, which uses tungsten or graphite as electricity, and the electricity itself does not consume or consumes very little during the melting process.
(2) Self-consumption electric arc furnace, which uses the smelted metal as electricity, and the metal is melted while consuming itself.
According to the control mode of arc length, it is divided into
(1) Constant arc pressure automatic control electric arc furnace, it relies on two voltages and the given voltage to compare, the difference is driven by signal amplification to self-consumption power up and down to maintain the constant length of the arc.
(2) Constant arc length automatic control electric arc furnace, which relies on the constant arc voltage to approximately control the constant arc length.
(3) Droplet pulse automatic control electric arc furnace, which automatically controls the constant arc length according to the pulse frequency generated during the formation and dripping process of metal droplets and the relationship between pulse duration and arc length.
Divided according to the type of work
(1) Periodic operation type electric arc furnace, that is, each melting furnace as a cycle.
(2) Continuous operation type electric arc furnace, this type of electric arc furnace has two forms. The species is the furnace body rotation type; The other is that the two furnaces share a DC power supply, that is, when the furnace is finished melting, switch the power to the other furnace and immediately start the melting of the furnace.
According to the furnace structure form, it is divided into
(1) Fixed electric arc furnace.
(2) Rotary electric arc furnace.
The intermediate frequency furnace has only one classification, that is, according to the tonnage classification, you can refer to the classification of the intermediate frequency furnace.
advantage
Electric arc furnace
The electric arc furnace steelmaking process is short, the equipment is simple, the operation is convenient, it is easier to control pollution, the construction investment is small, the floor space is small, and there is no need to rely on the complex ironmaking system like converter steelmaking.
Electric arc furnace steelmaking is highly adaptable to the charge, it uses scrap steel as the main raw material, but it can also use solid and liquid iron-containing raw materials such as molten iron (blast furnace or chemical iron furnace molten iron), sponge iron (DRI) or hot briquette (HBI), pig iron block.
Modern electric arc furnaces can also use a large number of auxiliary energy sources, such as injection heavy (light) oil, pulverized coal, natural gas, etc. Therefore, the electric arc furnace steelmaking process is highly adaptable, flexible in operation and widely used.
Electric arc furnaces can not only smelt high-quality steels with low phosphorus, sulfur and oxygen content, but also can use a variety of elements to alloy (including lead, boron, vanadium, titanium and rare earths and other easily oxidized elements) to produce a variety of high-quality steels and alloy steels, such as ball bearing steels, stainless acid-resistant steels, tool steels, electrical steels, heat-resistant steels, magnetic materials and special alloys.
Medium frequency furnace
Fast heating speed, high productivity, less oxidative decarbonization, saving materials and costs, and prolonging mold life
Superior working environment, improve workers' working environment and company image, no pollution, low energy consumption
Uniform heating, small temperature difference of the core meter, high temperature control accuracy
